I am writing to express my deep frustration and concern regarding recent legislative efforts to nullify two mandates that were directly voted on and approved by the people of Missouri—abortion rights and employee protections, including paid sick leave and a higher minimum wage. These policies were not forced through by politicians; they were the will of the people, decided by democratic vote.
By attempting to overturn these voter-approved measures, you are disregarding the voices of Missourians and undermining the very foundation of our democracy. This is not governance—it is contempt for the electorate. If the citizens of Missouri took the time to engage in the democratic process, cast their votes, and make their collective will clear, how do you justify overturning their decision?
I urge you to reconsider this course of action. Legislating against the will of the people erodes trust in government and sets a dangerous precedent where elected officials believe they know better than their constituents. I demand a response on how you plan to uphold the will of the people rather than dismantle it.
This issue is of utmost urgency. I have also shared my concerns with Congresswoman Fogel, who understands the gravity of this matter. I strongly urge you to do the same—listen to the people you were elected to serve and stop this blatant overreach.
I look forward to your response.
