It is essential that all Americans—regardless of political affiliation, background, or status—are treated equally under the law and are not subjected to arbitrary or discriminatory actions. The actions taken by the administration have raised significant questions about the future of these fundamental protections. I urge you to take swift and decisive action to ensure that the Alien Enemies Act is never misused in a way that threatens the safety, freedom, and dignity of any individual or group. We must protect our institutions from overreach and ensure that our laws are applied fairly and justly. In addition, I ask that Congress work to reaffirm its commitment to due process and civil rights.
