I’m deeply concerned about how Trump’s legal actions are affecting the press and the justice system. His lawsuits against media outlets, like the recent $15 million settlement with ABC, make it harder for journalists to do their jobs. When news organizations are constantly facing the threat of expensive legal battles, they might start holding back on important reporting just to avoid trouble. This weakens the press’s ability to hold powerful people accountable, which is essential for democracy.
Even more concerning is Trump’s promise to use the Department of Justice to go after his political enemies. This kind of behavior threatens the fairness and independence of our legal system. If politicians can use the law as a weapon against opponents or the media, it puts our democracy at risk. We need to pay close attention and push back against any attempts to silence journalists or misuse the justice system for political gain. I plead with you to take a stand and protect our democratic institutions before it’s too late.
