As a constituent, I am deeply concerned by the Trump administration's decision to lay off nearly half of the Department of Education's workforce. This is a disturbing development that brings the administration closer to fulfilling its ill-advised campaign promise of shutting down the entire agency. Education is essential for cultivating an informed, skilled populace to drive economic growth. Dismantling the Department would undermine equal access to quality education nationwide and erode standards critical for developing our future workforce. Instead of eliminating it, the Department should be fortified to better support public schools, teacher training, student loans, and research into effective teaching methods. I urge you to vigorously oppose any efforts to abolish this vital agency, which plays a pivotal role in securing America's competitiveness.
