Democracy is Dying; Dispense with Decorum

To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla, Rep. Matsui

From: A constituent in Elk Grove, CA

March 8

I was deeply disappointed to see the 10 democrats, including my former Rep Bera, vote in favor of the censure against Democratic colleague Rep Green. In a time where American democracy and its people are all in peril, we see so few Democrats standing up for the rights and well-being of every day citizens. That in itself is disheartening enough, but to see a Democrat, in addition, voting to censure the one of those few who are standing up and trying to do something… it is instances like this that motivate people like me and so many others to abandon the Democratic Party altogether. If the other party is against us, and this party does nothing for us, both parties are equally worthless to us. A party whose efforts amount to little more than wearing a certain color or holding as sign… that party is worthless to all of us. This is not the time for compliance. Decorum should not be the top priority when our democracy is dying and day by day we draw nearer to full blown authoritarian fascism. I would love to hear what real action you are taking to prevent the advent of a new Third Reich here in the US.
