Push back against actions that will increase our environmental crisis

March 21

The rapid melting of glaciers worldwide is an alarming sign of the escalating climate crisis. The United Nations reports that glaciers have experienced record-breaking mass loss over the past three years, shedding 450 billion tonnes of ice. This staggering ice loss has already contributed to a global sea level rise of 18 millimeters since 2000, putting millions of people at risk from coastal flooding and severe storm surges. If we fail to take immediate and decisive action to curb greenhouse gas emissions and address the root causes of climate change, many glaciers may not survive this century, according to expert warnings. The disappearance of these vital freshwater reservoirs would not only threaten water supplies for millions but also disrupt ecosystems and exacerbate the impacts of natural disasters. We must recognize the urgency of this crisis and commit to implementing comprehensive climate solutions. Transitioning to renewable energy sources, promoting sustainable practices, and protecting natural carbon sinks like forests are crucial steps toward mitigating the effects of climate change. Failure to act now will only lead to further environmental degradation and increase the likelihood of catastrophic consequences for humanity and the planet we call home. The time to take decisive action is now, before it is too late to reverse the damage.
