I am writing to express my deep concern over recent statements suggesting the possible use of military force to acquire Greenland. As a citizen who values peaceful international relations and respect for national sovereignty, I urge you and your colleagues to oppose any such actions and advocate for diplomatic engagement instead.
Recent reports indicate that Donald Trump has not ruled out military force as a means to take control of Greenland, citing strategic interests. Vice President JD Vance’s remarks about Denmark’s investment in Greenland’s security have only escalated tensions. However, Danish officials, including Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, have reaffirmed their commitment to Arctic security and cooperation with the United States. It is imperative that we maintain our strong alliance with Denmark and respect Greenland’s self-governance.
Using military force or exerting undue pressure to claim Greenland would not only damage our international reputation but also set a dangerous precedent for global diplomacy. The United States has long stood for self-determination and respect for the sovereignty of other nations. I urge you to take a clear stance against any aggressive actions toward Greenland and instead encourage peaceful dialogue and cooperation in the Arctic region.
Thank you for your time and for your commitment to upholding American values. I look forward to your response and to seeing the United States continue to act as a leader in responsible and ethical foreign policy.
