A call for courage and prioritization of real issues

To: Rep. Gill, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A verified voter in Denton, TX

March 9

I write to you today with deep frustration and disappointment in the cowardice displayed by our elected officials in Texas when it comes to standing up to Donald Trump. It is beyond disheartening to see you and your colleagues remain complicit while Trump wastes time and resources on absurd, irrelevant issues—such as his apparent desire to rename the Gulf of Mexico—rather than focusing on the real and pressing concerns that affect everyday Americans. While he indulges in vanity projects, fundamental rights are being stripped away from the people we love. And yet, you remain silent, bowing to a man whose reckless behavior and authoritarian tendencies grow more alarming by the day. Texas, and the nation at large, deserve leaders who prioritize the well-being of their constituents over the fragile ego of one man. Instead, you have chosen to stand idly by, offering your allegiance to someone who cares more about headlines and personal power than the American people. Your continued inaction is nothing short of spineless, and history will not look kindly upon those who lacked the backbone to stand up when it mattered most. Senator Cruz, in particular, should take a moment to reflect on his own household. His daughter has publicly demonstrated more wisdom and moral clarity than he ever has. Perhaps if he stopped pandering to Trump and instead listened to the next generation—especially his own—he might learn a thing or two about integrity. The American people are not fooled by these games. We see the hypocrisy, the cowardice, and the utter failure to act in the best interest of the people. If you choose to continue bending to Trump’s every whim, know that voters are watching, and your political careers are not as secure as you might like to believe. The people of Texas demand courage, not cowardice. Leadership, not servitude to a demagogue. You have a choice: stand up for democracy and the rights of your constituents, or be remembered as nothing more than a weak enabler of an egotistical tyrant. I urge you to do better. Texas deserves better. America deserves better.
