The response to Senator Booker’s record breaking speech has shown that people are looking for our leaders to stand up to the gutting of our country, the violations of our laws and norms, and to the devastation of our economies both personal and national. People are angry and scared and are so grateful to see someone like Senator Booker speak so eloquently and so long about why this country and its people are worth fighting for. You are not doing any of that. People are seeing your lack of action on their behalf. While Senator Booker was breaking the record held by a segregationist, this regime was gutting the agencies that regulate food and drug safety. He was gutting the CDC. We are demonstrably less safe today because of his and Musk’s actions than we were just last week. He is also, despite a crashing stock market and an increased need for food assistance showing the harm he’s already caused, increasing taxes on the American people by levying new tariffs. Congress could easily stop that reckless, irresponsible, ignorant, and unpopular behavior right now.
