Restore legal protections for migrant children

To: Rep. Ross, Sen. Tillis, Sen. Budd

From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC

March 25

The administration’s revocation of counsel for migrant children is unconscionable. Under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, the government is required, to the “greatest extent practicable,” to provide legal representation to minors. Failure to comply with this direct legislation is an affront to Congress, and will leave thousands of children to fend for themselves in a complex legal system. This action puts children as young as two years of age at risk for trafficking, abuse, and trauma. Congress must act now in response to this illegal action by the White House.
