I am writing to express my strong opposition to S. 1006, the Federal Workforce Freedom Act, introduced by Senator Marsha Blackburn. This legislation would strip federal employees of their fundamental right to organize, join, and participate in labor unions for the purposes of collective bargaining and representation.
Federal employees serve our nation with dedication, and they deserve the same workplace protections and bargaining rights as private-sector employees. By repealing the existing statutory framework governing federal labor relations, banning collective bargaining, and immediately terminating all current labor agreements, this bill undermines worker rights, weakens the voice of federal employees, and could lead to reduced efficiency and morale within the federal workforce.
Collective bargaining is not just about wages and benefits—it ensures fair working conditions, protects whistleblowers, and fosters a productive work environment that ultimately benefits the public. Removing these rights would erode trust between employees and management, making it harder to attract and retain top talent in the federal workforce.
I urge you to stand with federal employees and oppose this harmful legislation. Protecting the rights of workers to organize and engage in collective bargaining is essential to maintaining a fair and effective government. Please vote against S. 1006 and advocate for policies that support—not weaken—our dedicated public servants.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response on this critical issue.
