We must take a firm stance against the anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and policy positions expressed by Governor Newsom. His alignment with Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA, organizations known for spreading hateful misinformation and discrimination against the transgender community, is unacceptable. Denying gender-affirming care for transgender youth and placing restrictions on transgender athletes are harmful actions that perpetuate stigma and marginalization. As public servants, our leaders have a responsibility to protect the rights and well-being of all citizens, including the LGBTQ+ community. We urge you to condemn these statements, uphold the principles of equality and non-discrimination, and actively work to safeguard the rights and dignity of transgender individuals in our state.
