Stop attacking trans people

To: Sen. Johnson, Gov. Abbott, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Rep. Bowers

From: A constituent in Mesquite, TX

March 9

The proposed law in Texas to make identifying as transgender a felony is an outrageous attack on human rights and personal freedom. Transgender individuals are not committing fraud by living authentically as their true selves. Criminalizing gender identity promotes discrimination, undermines equal protection under the law, and puts an already vulnerable population at further risk of harm. This draconian legislation has no place in a society that values diversity, dignity and justice. Transgender people deserve to have their identities respected and affirmed without fear of criminal penalties. I urge you to firmly oppose any efforts to pass this unconstitutional and dehumanizing law that violates the core principles of our democracy. We must stand united against this attempt to strip away the fundamental rights and humanity of our transgender community members.
