Strengthen Social Security Administration services for Americans

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin, Rep. James

From: A constituent in Mount Clemens, MI

March 25

Social Security is an essential program that millions of Americans rely on for retirement income, disability benefits, and survivor's benefits. However, recent reports indicate that the Social Security Administration (SSA) is facing significant challenges in providing timely and effective services. Long wait times, overwhelming call volumes, and website crashes are creating barriers for those seeking assistance or trying to access their benefits. Trump and his administration are threatening this institution, and they must be stopped. The current situation is unacceptable and calls for immediate action to ensure the SSA has the resources and support it needs to fulfill its crucial role. We must prioritize strengthening and modernizing the SSA's infrastructure, staffing levels, and technological capabilities to meet the growing demands of an aging population. Delayed processing times and inaccessible services can have devastating consequences for those dependent on Social Security benefits for their livelihood. Protecting and improving the Social Security system should be a top priority. It is a fundamental responsibility to safeguard this vital program and ensure it can continue to provide the support that millions have earned and depend on. Failing to address these issues would be a disservice to the American people and a betrayal of the promise made to those who have contributed to the system throughout their working lives.
