Denounce Elon Musk's Attack on Judicial Authority

To: Rep. Green

From: A constituent in Houston, TX

March 31

I am writing as your constituent to urge you to speak out against Elon Musk's dangerous anti-constitutional rhetoric and to leverage your position as a Democratic leader to counter this threat to our system of government. At a recent rally, Mr. Musk stated: "Any federal judge can stop any action by the president. This is insane. This has got to stop. It has got to stop at the federal level at the state level." This statement is a direct attack on our system of checks and balances. This is not merely a misunderstanding—it is a deliberate attempt to undermine the judiciary's essential role in our government and elevate the presidency beyond the constraints established by our founders. Our nation's founders deliberately established three branches of government to prevent any single branch from becoming too powerful. The judiciary's authority to review executive actions isn't a flaw in our system—it's a feature specifically designed to protect the American people from potential overreach. As my elected representative in Congress, you have sworn an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States." I implore you to: 1) Publicly condemn Mr. Musk's statements as contrary to our constitutional system 2) Call on President Trump to denounce these views and terminate any formal or informal advisory role Mr. Musk holds 3) Initiate and engage in bipartisan conversations and efforts to actively limit Mr. Musk’s influence in government affairs, working across the aisle to protect our constitutional principles regardless of political differences 4) Use your position on the Financial Services Committee to examine whether Mr. Musk’s influence poses financial regulatory concerns, including how his political access might create conflicts of interest affecting markets, government contracts, and regulatory oversight of his companies. This oversight falls squarely within your committee’s jurisdiction to protect market integrity Mr. Musk's statement clearly demonstrates he should have no role whatsoever in advising our government. Someone who so brazenly advocates for dismantling constitutional safeguards cannot be trusted with influence over public policy. The actions I am calling for transcend partisan politics—they are about preserving the constitutional framework that has sustained our country for over two centuries. As a member of the opposition party, you have both an opportunity and responsibility to be especially vigilant in defending our constitutional principles when they come under attack. Our constitutional system of government must be defended by all elected officials, regardless of political affiliation, but especially by those positioned to provide necessary checks on power. I look forward to your action on this critical matter.
