I am vehemently opposed to SB 2 and any school voucher program funded with taxpayer dollars. This bill will not support every school aged child in Texas, only a small few. Voucher programs have proven ineffective in many studies and evidenced by other programs in other states. With funding for less than 2% of Texas students, it’s clear this isn’t about choice, but providing a taxpayer funded coupon for the few. I am asking you to vote no - and to instead fully fund public education. I am acutely aware the Texas State Legislature has not increased funding for public education since 2019. A voucher program funneling public tax dollars to private institutions will not solve our education gaps. Thank you.
