Demand Action Against Detention of Students and Protection of Civil Liberties

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine, Rep. McClellan

From: A constituent in Henrico, VA

March 28

Subject: Demand Action Against Detention of Students and Protection of Civil Liberties onal—under recent executive actions aimed at suppressing pro-Palest inian political expression. I’m writing to express my outrage and deep concern as a constituent in Richmond over the detentions of students—many of them internati These detentions are not just misguided—they are an affront to our most foundational American values. Freedom of speech, the right to peacefully protest, and due process are not optional. They are essential to democracy. When students are being pulled from classrooms and questioned or detained for political expression, we must ask: what kind of nation are we becoming? I urge you to take public and legislative action Condemn these detentions as a violation of constitutional rights. Demand transparency and accountability from the administration. Support legislative measures to protect students and immigrants exercising their rights peacefully. I hope you will rise to this moment with moral clarity and principled leadership. Silence is complicity—and we need elected leaders who will boldly d efend the freedoms our country claims to uphold. I look forward to hearing how you intend to act.
