The data reveals numerous private schools charge upwards of $20,000 per year, far exceeding the proposed voucher amounts of $2,000 to $11,500. Implementing vouchers without first adequately increasing per-student funding for public schools will divert essential resources away from the education system serving the majority of students. Rather than pursuing a voucher program that advantages only a select few, we should prioritize equitably improving all public schools to ensure every child has access to a quality education regardless of their family's financial circumstances. Vouchers create an uneven playing field, while raising investments in our public education infrastructure lifts up all students across our communities.
