I am writing to urge you to strongly oppose the Reorganizing Government Act of 2025. While this bill claims to preserve Congressional oversight through "privileged resolution," the reality is far more dangerous. Under the current political climate, where loyalty to Donald Trump is demanded at all costs, approving this bill could effectively mirror the Enabling Act of 1933 in Germany, granting unchecked power to the executive.
Our nation is facing alarming parallels to 1933 Germany. The only safeguards we have left are the checks and balances provided by the judiciary and Congress—both of which are under the control of a party that prioritizes loyalty to Trump over the Constitution. The courts are already under threat, with proposals to impeach judges who dissent and even eliminate federal courts that refuse to comply with the administration's demands. Some Republican legislators have reportedly capitulated out of fear for their families' safety, further eroding Congressional independence.
Our institutions are failing us. Despite Supreme Court rulings that have expanded executive power, we are not a monarchy. Congress must reject this act, which would grant Trump near-unlimited authority while maintaining the illusion of democracy. The administration’s escalating threats against the media, private businesses, and dissenters—combined with reports of indefinite detentions and extrajudicial renditions—paint a chilling picture of authoritarian overreach.
This is not hyperbole. This is not fiction. Most importantly, this is not a drill. The Democratic Party must stop treating this as politics as usual. You must take a stand against these abuses of power. If you cannot or will not, then step aside for someone who will put the country and its citizens first.
