The Trump administration is openly defying a federal court order by continuing to deport Venezuelans, ignoring a judicial injunction meant to halt these removals. This is not just an immigration issue—it is a dangerous assault on the rule of law. If a president can disregard a judge’s ruling with impunity, then no legal protection in this country is safe.
These deportations are based on the archaic Alien Enemies Act of 1798, a law designed for wartime use, not for targeting vulnerable asylum seekers. The administration is abusing this outdated legislation to justify mass deportations while completely disregarding the court’s explicit order to stop. This is an outright rejection of our legal system and an alarming display of executive overreach.
Congress must take immediate action to hold this administration accountable. The judiciary’s authority cannot be ignored without consequences. If this lawlessness is allowed to stand, it sets a precedent for future presidents to trample over constitutional limits unchecked. The deportations must be halted, the court’s order must be enforced, and those responsible for violating it must be held to account.
