Oppose a Repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act

To: Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Reschenthaler, Sen. McCormick

From: A verified voter in Crabtree, PA

March 26

This repeal of Section 230 poses a grave threat to online free speech and the open internet ecosystem. It will disproportionately impact smaller platforms and individuals engaging in online discourse, while large tech corporations have the resources to withstand increased legal costs. Section 230 is foundational internet legislation that has enabled the growth of user-generated content and online communities for decades. Repealing it without a viable replacement that protects civil liberties is unacceptable. This move has nothing to do with improving user safety, but rather seems like an attempt to consolidate power among a few major players at the expense of a free and open internet. I urge you to vigorously oppose any legislation that seeks to undermine Section 230 protections.
