Public schools should be open and accessible to all children regardless of their immigration status. Denying an education to immigrant youth without legal status goes against fundamental values of equal opportunity and perpetuates cycles of poverty and marginalization. HB0793 and SB0836 go against access to education for all by barring immigrant children without legal status from attending Tennessee public schools. Every child deserves a fair chance to learn, thrive, and contribute positively to their communities. Access to public education should be a universal right, not contingent on immigration papers. I urge you to reject these policies that would further disadvantage already vulnerable populations and instead work to create an inclusive educational system that empowers all students.
