EPA focus should be Enviornment first!!!!!!
To: Rep. Kim
From: A constituent in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

I am so so concerned about the direction the EPA is going. Instead of announcing any projects to better our conservation efforts, or ensure the record number of visitors our national parks got this year becomes a new, profitable trend, the EPA Administrator seems focused solely on buisness. Instead of taking over and continuing efforts to protect communities from pollution, he got rid of the department in charge of determining the most high risk areas because it was called “environmental justice.” He has canceled lawsuits against chemical plants in the infamous Cancer Alley. His approach seems partisan and not focused at all on the environment and the serious decline of our wildlife and our biodiversity that actively threatens our agriculture, recreation, and fishing industries, which are the parts of the economy he’s obliged to protect THROUGH MAKING SURE OUR NATURE FLOURISHES. He has announced zero new conservation projects to achieve this goal and I think he is actually planning on the opposite - to allow businesses greater leniency when it comes to pollution, a privilege they abused so heavily in the past that the skies were thick with smog and rivers were void of life for years, not to mention the increased rate of disease in communities near manufacturing areas. I ask you with all my heart and in the best faith to steer our Administrator back to the purpose of his role and not to participate in the deregulation effort, which has been scorned by many previous members of the EPA and past administrators. Doubling down on habitat conservation and restoration will have undeniable positive long-term effects on our economy, especially locally, and he needs to spend his time defending us against pollution, not propping up the business sector. We deserve the very best laws. Not weak ones. We the people do not deserve for the EPA to side with for-profit corporations over us, please, no serious deregulation, do not comply, I’m literally begging you. I’d beg you in person if I got the chance.
