The idea of using financial assets of the treasury of the United States to buy something as ephemeral and environmentally destructive as bitcoin, risking the loss of the gold and other physical assets upon which much of our current value is staked, is appalling. Not only is this short sighted, it is also a conflict of interest. Further, it is not something that should be done without hard data and consultation with many economists and historians. I, one of your constituents, request that you oppose the Bitcoin Act of 2025 proposed by Cynthia Lummis.
