Defend judicial authority - uphold Constitution, check executive overreach

To: Sen. Fischer, Rep. Bacon, Sen. Ricketts

From: A constituent in Papillion, NE

March 17

The administration's decision to deport hundreds of alleged gang members to El Salvador despite a federal judge's order blocking such removals raises serious concerns about respect for the rule of law and the separation of powers. While the government claims the written order came after the deportations had already occurred, the judge's verbal directive from the bench carries equal legal weight and should have been followed. Defying court orders undermines our democratic institutions and sets a dangerous precedent. As the American people's representatives, you have a duty to uphold the Constitution and serve as a check on executive overreach. I urge you to conduct rigorous oversight into this matter, hold the administration accountable for any violations, and take steps to prevent such disregard for judicial authority in the future. The independence of the judiciary is a cornerstone of our system of government and must be vigorously defended.
