Missouri: Freedom Means Freedom for All - Stop Anti-Trans Laws

To: Sen. Luetkemeyer, Rep. Jones, Gov. Kehoe

From: A constituent in Kansas City, MO

March 24

Recent government actions targeting transgender individuals represent an alarming overreach that violates American principles of liberty and limited government. Policies restricting gender-affirming care and banning transgender participation in public life infringe on personal freedoms and promote discrimination (Alabama Political Reporter, October 2024). This runs counter to conservative values that emphasize minimizing government intrusion into private lives. Transgender Americans already face severe health disparities, with higher rates of poor mental and physical health compared to cisgender peers (American Public Health Association, May 2024). Discrimination and legal barriers to healthcare only worsen these outcomes. Government policies that deny medically necessary care undermine public health and basic human dignity (The 19th News, March 2025). Limited government means staying out of personal medical decisions and protecting individual autonomy. State control over gender identity and healthcare is a clear violation of this principle. Conservatives and progressives alike should reject policies that extend government power into private lives and instead ensure that all Americans, including transgender people, are treated with respect and fairness (Mike Johnson’s 7 Core Principles of Conservatism, 2024).
