Senator, please, do your job or resign. Stop depriving us of representation

It was reported that the senate appropriations committee calendar is empty with no hearings scheduled for this year so far and none since November. This is unacceptable. As committee chair you swore the same oath to uphold the constitution as your peers, but you, in your role as appropriations chair, have the tools to defend the constitution and maintain checks and balances through subpoenas, testimony, criminal and judicial referrals. Trump and Musk have usurped the congressional power of the purse. By doing nothing to expose and address that through the Appropriations committee chairmanship, you are depriving us of representation. Earlier this week your staff said that you were unwell and thus unable to attend a senate intel committee meeting-- about the gravest breach of defense information of the century--yet later that day, you came to the floor to vote half a dozen times. (The excuse of contagion is unconvincing: if a person truly wants to avoid infecting others, they wear a good mask. Unmasked and contagious, a person can infect others in a large room as well as a small one.) If you are unable or unwilling to attend committee meetings and do oversight, then, whether absent through illness, fear, threats from others or any other reason whatever, Please, stop down from those committees and resign your seat. Maine and the Nation deserve representation. We the people demand to be served by electeds who will honor their oath to the constitution and will fulfill their congressional roles. We are simply asking you to do your job; or if unable or unwilling, to resign.
