Be aware: even among friends who are conservative Democrats - anti-Trump but critical of some progressive priorities - there is shock and awe, not only at Trump-Musk overreach in contempt of the Constitution, but also at the lack of an effective, forceful Democratic response. The term “Vichy Democrats” is catching on among those with some awareness of world war 2. Trump is competing to be the world’s biggest, baddest monster, completing his 2020 coup attempt with a flood of lawless acts and carte blanche to Elon Musk literally to destroy functioning government. Where are powerful voices of opposition, telling the story of the tsunami of harm that is inevitable if Trump and his mob are allowed to prevail? History is watching. Someday courage will again be honored, and every person in a position to act and influence who chooses safety will be named and remembered. Be brave.
