Learn from History. Block Trump's fascism. Protect our constitution

You need to wake up and stop acting like it's business as usual. Acknowledge the danger to our lives and to our rights and our democracy, the danger to the truth itself. Our lives and our democracy are on your shoulders. Ask yourself how you will rein back a mutated bird flu pandemic? Ask yourself what is going to happen to the lives of the people Trump announced he intends to round up and apprehend on day 1. Ask yourself why Elon Musk is acting like an unelected king's favorite interfering in the work of Congress. Ask your GOP colleagues why they are following instructions from a billionaire henchman and not serving the wishes of those who elected them. Have you spoken out against Trump's statements that he plans to engage in political prosecution? That he will pardon the January 6 terrorist insurrectionists? What happened to the provision in our constitution that says a person who tried to overthrow the constitution cannot hold elected office? Are you familiar with Hitler's rise to power? I should not have to ask this but the craven offered compliance by so many in the GOP alarms me. Do you realise that Hitler began by stripping away citizenship and civil rights? Do you realise that he created a climate that allowed pogroms by spreading and normalising hatred and racial bigotry? You know these things I am sure. Perhaps you have even been on a Codel trip to Auschwitz. Do you not see that Trump is copying Hitler's rise to power? Let's look at what Trump's social media account posted: I quote from Heather Cox Richardson's account in her letter today: : “Liz Cheney could be in a lot of trouble based on the evidence obtained by the subcommittee, which states that ‘numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, and these violations should be investigated by the FBI.’ Thank you to Congressman Barry Loudermilk on a job well done.” To this, conservative writer David Frum responded: “After his successful consolidation of power, the Leader prepares show trials for those who resisted his failed first [violent attempt to overthrow the government].” Stop acting as if everything is business as usual and start to speak out. Find some courage. Tell your GOP friends to stop their complicity in the slide to fascism. Fund the government now. Speak out against January 6th deniers. Speak out against attacks on the truth. Defend our rights and our constitution.
