Congress Learn from history: pardons for insurrectionists, tariffs, trickle down economics are all bad. Follow evidence based policy.
Pardons: Sworn in as chancellor in March 1933, one of Hitler's first acts was to pardon 8,000 Nazis who had committed violent acts including participating in the failed Hitler coup of 1923. If you don't know where this leads, look up "brown shirts."
I am alarmed and outraged by Trump's pardon of the January 6th insurrectionists: they are domestic terrorists who attacked our democracy and Constitution. Speak out. Fund domestic terrorism monitoring.
Tariffs
Look up the Smoot Hawley tariffs of 1930.
They raised costs for Americans. Dumb and damaging policy.
Economists and economic historians have a consensus view that the passage of the Smoot–Hawley Tariff worsened the effects of the Great Depression. Don't support new tariffs.
Use reason not partisan toadying to broligarchs when you evaluate tax policy.
Look at the success of Biden's economic policies and the failure of Trump's first term. Under Trump the deficit skyrocketed and employment fell. Tax cuts for the super rich do not lead to benefits for all. They never have. That misguided notion has been proven false again and again so do not tout it to defend Trump's plan to pay off his big donors with tax cuts. Say no.
Climate change is real and is an existential threat. Do not back any policies that will increase fossil fuel consumption. Vaccines work and save lives. They are safe and important.
Do not back or approve of vaccine skeptics. Maintain public funds for vaccine research.
