An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives

Vote no on the SAVE act

1,452 so far! Help us get to 2,000 signers!

The SAVE Act would severely undermine voter registration for all Americans and potentially disenfranchise millions of eligible citizens who lack readily available citizenship documents like passports or birth certificates. According to data, over 21 million voting-age American citizens do not have these documents easily accessible. The documentation requirements would disproportionately impact voters of color, those who have changed their names like married women, and younger voters. The bill would effectively eliminate mail-in voter registration by requiring in-person submission of documents before deadlines. It would also hamper popular methods like automatic voter registration, online registration, and voter registration drives. Previous similar laws in states like Arizona and Kansas blocked thousands from registering to vote. With this act imposing draconian nationwide restrictions on voter registration methods and documentation requirements, we urge you to reject this antidemocratic legislation that would disenfranchise huge numbers of Americans and undermine access to the ballot box.
