You took an oath to: support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic and swore that you would bear true faith and allegiance to the same. I write to ask you to uphold that oath now.
Please uphold your oath by speaking out against overreach, illegal orders and undermining of the constitution by all persons and agencies that do it, including the president.
I am appalled by the recent executive order attempting to overturn the constitution's provisions about citizenship:
Your oath to the constitution requires you to defend this clause:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
Written right there in the Constitution."
The President cannot change that with an executive order.
I ask you to speak out against such attacks on the constitution.
Please review the history of Germany in the 1930s. Attempting to strip citizenship and rights from citizens is a sinister harmful project.
Please also do not condone or pass any bills that seek to circumvent due process or the rule of law.
Remember that you are elected to serve those who elected you and that you do this in a coequal branch of a government designed to have checks and balances.
Do not vote for Pete Hegseth for secretary of Defense nor for Pam Bondi as AG. Both are manifestly, egregiously, unsuited. Advise and consent means you say no to nominees who will damage their agencies. It does not mean give latitude to a president who attacks the rule of law to install partisan unqualified toadies, alcoholics and truth deniers. I will be watching your voted and public statements carefully to see if you act as your oath and your duty to constituents and moral decency requires
